Eating out can be hard as a vegan. Friends want to eat somewhere cheap and want to grab a burger and leave, however, vegans don’t eat any animals or anything produced from an animal. Here are some tips to eating out a vegan:

  • Baskin-Robbins: dairy-free and gelatin-free ices and sorbets
  • BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse: the pizza crust and marinara sauce are vegan! Order a veggie pizza without cheese, and ask for your pizza NOT to be brushed with butter. You can also order spaghetti marinara without meat or cheese
  • Blaze Pizza: they offer gluten-free crust as well as Day cheese; try the classic red or the spicy red sauce or a drizzle of BBQ sauce or olive oil and add veggies
  • Buffalo Wild Wings: the black-bean burger is vegetarian (not vegan); salad with light balsamic, french, or asian sesame dressing
  • Burger King: garden salad, fries, and harsh browns; french toast sticks & dutch apple pie
  • Carl’s Jr.: french fries, criss cut fries, hash rounds, hash-brown nuggets; all you can eat salad bar, three bean salad with Italian dressing, raspberry or low-fat balsamic vinaigrette
  • The Cheesecake Factory: veggie burger (made with brown rice, farro, couscous, mushrooms, black beans, and onion); penne pasta dish (made with broccoli, oven-dried tomato, roasted eggplant, peppers, artichoke, Kalamata olives, garlic, and pine nuts)
  • Chili’s: tostada chips and salsa; veggie quesadillas (replacing the cheese and sour cream with extra vegetables); cadillac fajitas without the meat
  • Chipotle: bowl, burrito, taco, or salad without meat, cheese, or sour cream. they offer sofritas (organic tofu braised with peppers and spices)
  • CiCi’s Pizza: be sure to ask about the vegan status of each item on your pizza; they also offer pasta and salad buffet with many vegan options
  • Claim Jumper: pizzas are vegan as long as you ask without cheese; Chinese salad with spicy peanut dressing
  • Cracker Barrel: vegetable plate with your choice of several veggies (including steamed broccoli and a baked sweet potato)
  • Dairy Queen: light smoothies are vegan!
  • Del Taco: 8 layer veggie burrito, the 1/2lb. bean and cheese burrito, or the value bean and cheese burrito with red or green sauce. Ask for no cheese, no rice, and no sour cream
  • Denny’s: oatmeal, the Fit Fare Veggie Skillet (ask for no egg whites), English muffins, bagels, grits, applesauce, fresh fruit, vegetable plates, seasoned french fires, baked potatoes with several vegetable toppings, garden salads with light Italian dressing or oil and vinegar dressing, and sandwiches that can be made with several vegetables options, and the Boca burger
  • El Pollo Loco: BRC burrito without cheese ; sides include pinto beans and corn on the cob
  • Flames Grill: veggie pattie
  • Hard Times Cafe: veggie burger and vegetarian chili (ask for no dairy products in the chili)
  • IHOP: hash browns, fresh fruit, frits, sautéed spinach and mushrooms, a plain baked potato, salad with fat-free or regular raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
  • Jack in the Box: black beans, potato wedges, seasoned curly fires, and breakfast blueberry muffin oatmeal
  • Johnny Rockets: the streamliner (vegan Boca burger with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and mustard)
  • Little Caesars, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut: all the sauces and doughs are vegan! ask without cheese and choose your veggies on top
  • Olive Garden: breadsticks; pasta’s: angel hair, cavatappi, fettuccine, gluten-free rotini, rigatoni, small shells, spaghetti, and white-wheat linguine with vegan marinara sauce; minestrone; salad without croutons or cheese; side of steamed broccoli
  • P.F. Chang’s China Bistro: everything can be made vegan, from appetizers such as tofu lettuce wraps to entrees such as Buddha’s Feast
  • Pieology & PizzaRev: offers Day cheese as well as gluten-free crust; just ask for no cheese and no meat and load up on the veggies!
  • Qdoba Mexican Grill: make a burrito, taco, or salad bowl with: corn or flour tortillas, black or pinto beans, brown or cilantro-lime rice, fajita vegetables, grilled vegetables, potatoes, guacamole, and most salsas; tortilla soup
  • Quiznos: guacamole, black olives, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and mushrooms (make sure to ask with no cheese and ask for the balsamic vinaigrette); vegan bread either white or wheat or a herb wrap; side garden salad; potato chips
  • Red Robin: hummus plate; vegan Boca burger
  • Starbucks: sesame noodle dish made with broccoli, carrots, red pepper, snap peas, tofu, pickled cucumbers, and sesame peanuts; dark chocolate desserts; plain or multigrain bagel, class of blueberry oatmeal, the seasonal harvest fruit blent, and the hearty veggie and brown rice salad bowl
