September 4th // Lago Di Garda // Munich, Germany

So today Faeln and I were craving vegetable soup and we wouldn’t stop until we found it. We walked blocks, attempted to speak to people, and asked lots of time for an English menu until we found Lago Di Garda. This Italian restaurant was delicious and we finally got out vegetable soup with cucumbers, potatoes, green beans, carrots, and cauliflower paired with red and white wine.

Nail Art

My beautiful cousin offered to do my nails before I headed to Europe and they turned out absolutely stunning! Viola does an incredible job at custom nail art. I let her go for it and try anything she wanted. She uses inspiration from Pinterest and transforms photos into incredible pieces of art on nails. If you’re in the LA area and need your nails done, be sure to contact Viola Davis! (Contact information listed below)

The Heart of Joy Cafe

September 2nd // Salzburg, Austria

After a long day in the rain, we went to a nearby vegetarian / vegan cafe that provided us with warmth, coffee, and food. We all ordered various coffees and I got a soy latte since they didn’t have any mochas. With our drinks we got little cards with a piece of art on one side and a quote on the other all made by Sri Chinmoy who passed in 2007. The cafe aimed to promote peace and happiness while serving others. All in all, the cafe was adorable and the coffee art and taste was splendid!

Prinz Myshkin

September 1st // Munich, Germany

Today we celebrate the birth of dear Imogen. Look at how cute she is! In honor of this beautiful day, we went to a vegetarian / vegan restaurant named Prinz Myshkin in Munich. There I got a vegan ravioli dish that I inhaled in a matter of seconds. Fun fact! In Germany you have to pay for water, whether that be tap water or sparkling water. The restaurant was dog friendly so we couldn’t help ourselves from yelling and giggling when we saw cute puppies. There was also a lot of interesting and colorful artwork hanging all around that was captivating.

The Holy Burger

September 1st // Munich, Germany

Burgers and Beer. The three of us ordered three different vegan burgers so we could try all of them! The three burgers included: The Holy Princess (chickpea, carrot and herb patty, cucumber, olive and caper tapenade, homemade tomato relish), Holy BBQ Beans (black bean patty, jalapeño, guacamole, ginger bbq sauce, homemade tomato relish), and the Holy Seitan (smoked seitan, cucumber, avocado cream, mango chutney). I have to say, the Holy bbq bean burger was by far the best because I enjoy a nice black bean patty, spice, and guac! Also, since we haven’t had a German beer before, Imogen suggested that we order the Radler to start our beer journey (which was pretty good!) The restaurant was small, but it had photos of famous singers all along the walls as well as the nicest workers.

Late Night Eats

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetAugust 28th // Chicago, Illinois

After seeing a Cub’s game and failing to find any vegan food, we went to a small restaurant with the sweetest workers. As you can see, we were very hungry and ordered lots of food! We got rice, pan fried noodles, and stir fried vegetables. The restaurant is called “China Doll” and you can view their menu, location, and hours at this website: http://chicago.menupages.com/restaurants/china-doll/menu

Coffee, Cupcakes, & Airport Food

August 30th // Chicago, Illinois

Lots of walking and traveling calls for vegan cupcakes, toast with hummus, a soy mocha, and a Mexican bowl. Molly’s cupcakes was actually on Cupcake War’s where they won the season finale! I got a chocolate vegan cupcake that I later ate in Lincoln Park while watching dogs pass by. For lunch I had toast with hummus paired with an iced soy latte from Colectivo Coffee which was filling and appetizing! Lastly, I had a tortas bowl from Rick Bay’s restaurant in the airport while waiting for my flight to Iceland (I can’t find exactly what I got on the menu but it had rice, beans, spinach, radish, avocado, tomatoes, and some sort of sauce). To be honest, I am getting so hungry writing this! All meals / snacks were vegan!

Freds Restaurant

August 29th // Chicago, Illinois

That view though! Today Aisha treated me and Faeln with a delicious lunch while we visited her in Chicago. We ordered fries, salad, and pasta all made vegan and shared all the plates (which was so smart!). The view was absolutely gorgeous, as you can tell by the photos, and the conversations warmed my heart. Thank you Aisha for a wonderful meal and having us in your home!

Morimoto

August 20th // Las Vegas, Nevada

In celebration of Caitlyn’s mom’s birthday, we went to Morimoto Las Vegas located in the MGM Grand. I ordered an avocado cucumber roll, miso soup, and rosemary potatoes that were delicious! Being a vegan can be hard sometimes, especially while eating out at nice restaurants, but as long as you tell them when you sit down that you don’t eat meat or animal products, they will usually prepare a custom meal for you or show you all their vegan options on the menu. Don’t be shy or embarrassed to ask! You deserve to eat good meals as well 🙂

Hannah’s Bretzel

August 28th – Chicago, Illinois

Look who we ran into! (Well technically we did plan this lunch, but look!) We met Wes in the heart of Chicago for lunch at Hannah’s Pretzels since they offer delicious vegan options. We ordered a “Veggie Bomb” which includes sliced cucumbers, vine tomatoes, fresh avocado, red onions, watercress and organic baby arugula drizzled with house-made dijon vinaigrette on their freshly baked organic whole grain baguette. As well, we got a warm whole grain barley soup with organic whole grain barley, celery, leeks, organic carrots, and organic onions. Both were very filling and warmed our stomachs!

Hannah’s Bretzel is a very interesting shop with an important message. They are trying to change the way we eat. If you’re curious about their purpose, their team, their food and nutrition, their environment, etc., check out there website here: https://www.hannahsbretzel.com/culture/.
