Serengetee (Part II)

August 16

I have already gone into detail in my other post “Serengetee” about this brand’s mission and history as well as my story of joining the company as a brand ambassador so I just wanted to give you a little update on what I am doing now.

My term as a campus brand ambassador has sadly ended. I was going to apply to be a leader for this next semester but I felt that studying abroad might make this job more difficult and when I begin something, I want to give it my all. However, I might apply to be a leader in the spring semester so we’ll see! So when you’re a campus ambassador, you are given challenges to complete and by completing these tasks, you are rewarding with points that you can redeem at the end of the semester. I had a good amount of points added up so I decided to get some stickers and a random pack of two shirts.

I text Emily asking if she wanted to meet up and shoot one of the shirts along with the blue plane hat I have had hanging in my closet. We meet up at Woodward park and took a few photos that turned out great! The fact that I get to partner with such an amazing brand makes modeling for them easy and fun. Be sure to check out their website and get yourself some Serengetee apparel! https://www.serengetee.com

Make sure to use the code “KDavis15” at checkout for 15% off your order!

The Elephant Pants

August 16

A wonderful organization with an even more amazing cause. This brand popped up on the side of my Facebook one day in an advertisement so I decided to click on it and I am sure glad I did. You may recognize the name, well, that’s because The Elephant Pants were on Shark Tank! I want to tell you more about their cause and why I decided to partner with this brand.

Their Mission:

Their mission is “Save Elephants. Feel Good.” And that’s exactly what they do! The company was founded in 2014 where two friends saw the exploitation of elephants around the world and made a mission to help save them through producing pants. “Producing pants?” You might be questioning this in your head right now and be a little confused. These pants, shorts, and more apparel are the most comfortable and stylish items that you have ever worn with proceeds going to an amazing cause.

Why They Care:

I couldn’t say this any better than how they addressed it on their website so I’m just going to copy and paste their exact words for you to read. “It’s estimated that there were once 7-10 million African elephants roaming the African Continent while around 200,000 Asian elephants lived in the forests and grasslands of Southern Asia. Sadly, due to habitat loss and human conflict, both of these populations have dwindled severely. From 2010 to 2012 alone, an estimated 100,000 elephants were poached for ivory. That’s essentially one elephant loss every 15 minutes—a 50 percent decline in population in the past 35 years. There are roughly 470,000 African Elephants left in the wild and less than 40,000 Asian elephants. The high rate of elephant deaths combined with their incredibly long gestation period (22 months) could lead to a world without wild elephants by 2050. With people being the #1 cause of this steady population decline, we feel that it is our duty to do what we can to bring it to an end. Together, we can create a sustainable future where elephants thrive.”

How They Help

They partner with other organizations that share similar interests in saving and protecting elephants. Their current partner right now is “Tusk” that supports and connects the people providing the most promising solutions to the iris facing Africa’s wildlife. I could go on and on about this brand and their mission to combat the exploitation of elephants, but I will let you explore their website for yourself. Be sure to buy some pants, shorts, tops, and more at this website- https://www.theelephantpants.com

Karma Bikinis

August 16

First I would like to thank Faeln for taking these photos and for letting me always drag her to the beach to do shoots. You are the greatest and most supportive friend girl.

Aren’t these swim suits the cutest and one of a kind?! Well to add to that, they are also comfortable and make me feel so confident. What’s even BETTER is that my friend Julienne Worring and her sister are the founders and creators of Karma Bikinis. But wait… it gets better. “Inspired by their combined passions for ocean conservation and the need for unique adjustable, fair trade pieces came our swimwear line with a commitment to donate 7% of all proceeds to ocean conservation efforts,” is read from their “About” article on their website. So not only are the bikinis unique, comfortable, stylist, but the proceeds are also donated to help ocean conservation.

Julienne reached out and asked me if I’d like to be a brand ambassador and I replied with a YES in a heartbeat. Brands like these that truly care about their clients and also think about giving back to organizations in need are the one’s I love to partner with. I mean how could you not?!

Sunset Beauty

August 16

Best friends, creative minds, and good cameras. This is what today’s shoot consisted of. People think that all photoshoots need to be planned in advance and be the most professional, however, not all of them need to be. Emily and I choose to text each other the night before or even hours before a spontaneous shoot. All you need is a camera, a friend, and a good attitude.

For this shoot, I headed up to Emily’s house where there is lots of land and trees. This made for the perfect golden hour shoot with vibrant colors of yellow and green. I decided to bring two outfits because you never know what you’re feeling in that moment or what will look the best in that area. The first outfit consisted of black booties, black high wasted jeans, and a simple, beige, off-the-should top. The second outfit was a floor length cream dress that had a low cut v-neck, color, and sleeves with cuts in the shoulder (as you can see from above) that I bought on clearance at Ohh La La, a local boutique store in Clovis, California (https://iloveoohlala.com).

Emily would take photos of me as I ran around the field flipping my dress and posing by trees. And then we would switch. That’s what is cool about shooting with your friends. You get to take photos of each other and it’s a two way deal. You both get nice, professional photos and after you can both edit to your own style.

Em is always my go-to girl for anything I need to create content for and I pay her back by taking photos of her as well. Go grab a camera and shoot with your friends. It doesn’t always have to be super professional so enjoy hanging out and taking photos!
